Richard I. Johnson, D.D.S., P.L.L.C.

After graduating from the University of Washington School of Dentistry in 1967, I spent the next 34 years in private practice in the town of Burlington, WA., where I was fortunate to have the opportunity to consult and be mentored by two exceptional dentists, Dr. Floyd Hamstrom and Dr. Gene Sargent.
In 2001 I sold my practice and went into semi-retirement. This was to be short lived because I missed the contact with my patients, many of whom had become good friends
In 2003 I purchased a practice in Everett, WA. thereby returning to the profession I love so much.
While still a student at the U of W Dental School, my uncle Dr. Ralph Tjarnberg impressed upon me that becoming an active member in a technique study club was the best way to continue learning and to remain at the leading edge of our profession.
I am grateful to my study club instructors, Dr. Gerard Schultz, Dr. Olin Loomis, and my peer and mentor Dr. Ralph Stenberg. All of these men shared from their vast experiences with their patients, presenting data of successful treatments and also showing some with less satisfactory outcomes, thus teaching that even they were still learning. There are limitations or compromises with services any dentist might provide though we continue to strive for excellence.
The following are a list of professional organizations I’ve participated in or been a member of:
- Fellow in the American College of Dentistry (current)
- Charter Member of the Academy of Operative Dentistry (current)
- Member of the Northwest Gnathology Seminar (current)
- Member of the International Academy of Gnathology (current)
- Member of the A.D.A., WA State Dental Association and the Snohomish
County Dental Society (current) - Former Member of the American Academy of the Gold Foil Operators
- Former Member of the International College of Applied Nutrition
One of the great joys of my profession has been the opportunity to perform clinical procedures on patients in front of my peers at National and International Meetings. This has been both an honor and a fulfilling experience.
